The University of Trieste promotes the internationalization of teaching through integrated study programs developed in collaboration with foreign partner universities. These programs require students to complete part of their curriculum abroad, according to study plans defined by individual agreements.
At the end of the program, selected students obtain an international academic qualification which, depending on the type of agreement, may be:
 

• Double Degree: the awarding of two separate national diplomas by the institutions involved;
• Joint Degree: the awarding of a single diploma signed jointly by the partner universities in the program

Key Action 1 is renewed in the Erasmus+ 2021-2027 programme thanks to the introduction of blended intensive programmes (BIPs). BIPs involve short periods of face-to-face activities combined with online learning and cooperation, in which joint groups of students, teaching staff and administrative staff from different countries can participate to collaborate on specific tasks collectively and simultaneously.

Main features of BIPs:
- short (5 to 30 days), intensive and innovative teaching programmes;
- composed of a virtual and a face-to-face component;
- worth at least 3 ECTS credits;
- participation of students and staff from different countries;
- collaborative working methods.

The University of Trieste offers scholarships for international mobility as part of the Erasmus+ Short-term Doctoral Mobility Programme funded by the European Union through Erasmus+ 2024/2025 funds.

Short Mobility, as provided by the Erasmus+ 2021-2027 program, are short-term mobility programs that allow participants to undertake an experience combining a brief physical mobility abroad (from 5 to 30 consecutive days) with a mandatory virtual component.

Short Mobility consists of two types of mobility, both of which are mandatory for participation and for the recognition of the activity:

• Virtual mobility, which allows participants to connect online with teachers and students from the participating institutions through a training program designed to achieve specific learning outcomes. This is a compulsory activity to be carried out from Italy, complementary to the physical mobility, and does not include any financial grant.
• Short-term physical mobility, which includes the provision of specific financial grants for the duration of the activities carried out in person.
